MC Daleste
Daniel Pedreira Senna Pellegrine better known by his stage name MC Daleste (30 October - 1992 – 7 July - 2013), was a funk paulista singer, songwriter and rapper. He was fatally shot in the abdomen while performing during a free show in Campinas, São Paulo before a crowd of four thousand people. The Brazilian funk scene has turned violent within the last couple of years with a number of MCs being killed including Felipe Boladão, MC Careca, MC Primo, and MC Duda Marapé, in addition to Daleste.〔〔 Rapper MC Neguinho Caxeta miraculously survived after being sprayed by bullets.〔 There are speculations that vigilante gangs, referred to in Brazil as "grupos de extermínio" or "milicia," are affiliated with police officers and are responsible for the murders of Brazilian MCs notorious for lyrics that are critical of police corruption.〔
